BLS 1.3.002beta2 ready for testing
If you are brave you can try the beta test version of
the 1.3.002 release. This release has all of the updated and changed
packages since 1.3.001. It also has improved initramfs support so that
during installation firmware can be loaded via mdev hotplug. Finally,
this version can be installed onto your hard disk from a USB stick as
an alternative to using a CDROM (for some BIOS). You can download the
iso image and try it on a test machine today:
bls1.3.002beta2_cdrom.iso
Highlights of beta2:
- fixed rc.lighttpd stop to kill the php-cgi processes better
- fixed rc.vsftpd stop to kill the vsftpd processes better
- updated lighttpd to have the patch for CVE-2010-0295
- fixed bug where broadcom bnx2 NICs would complain about Dell
on non-Dell hardware. The problem is the broadcom NIC chip,
which is also used on IBM x-series machines.
- fixed bug where servesetup would talk about apache, even though
we do not have apache; now it talks about web like it should
- fixed embarassing symlink bugs in xz man pages
- fixed even more embarassing broken link to beta iso image [blush]
